Las Palmas Medical Center is 1st El Paso hospital to offer doula services to moms-to-be

Las Palmas Del Sol

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - When it comes to giving birth, it's certainly encouraging for mothers-to-be to have the support of family and friends.

Having someone who can guide them through the process is also a must.

All those things can be lacking for the wives and girlfriends of soldiers stationed at Fort Bliss, which is a primary reason behind the creation of the doula services at Las Palmas Medical Center.

With El Paso being so military-centric, ABC-7's Stephanie Valle spoke with doula Rachel Curtis to learn about what a doula does, and why military families especially can benefit from using a doula. (You can watch the interview in the video player at the top of this article.)
