City of El Paso to begin Covid-19 vaccinations of 12-15 year olds

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The City of El Paso announced it will start offering the Pfizer vaccine to 12-15 year olds starting on Thursday.

It comes after the vaccine got the green light from both the FDA and the CDC.

The city will only be administering the vaccine to this age group at the El Paso Convention Center, at least for now.

“This is another positive step in our battle against the Covid-19 virus. We look forward to vaccinating even more members of our community, with this approval,” El Paso City/County Health Authority Dr. Hector Ocaranza said in a statement. “Immunization is one of the most important things parents can do to protect their children’s health. Vaccinating our children not only benefits the child, but also the child’s loved ones."

The city said parental or guardian consent is required.

The Convention Center is open via appointment or walk-up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
