2/3 of El Pasoans partially vaccinated; 2 new virus deaths

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso County surpassed an important vaccination milestone Tuesday.

Two-thirds of eligible El Pasoans are now partially vaccinated. That includes 12-15 year olds who became eligible for the Pfizer vaccine earlier this month.

Health officials also reported two new coronavirus-related deaths and 43 new cases. The latest fatalities were women, one each in her 70s and 80s.

The county's pandemic death toll now stands at 2,606. There are 20 additional suspected Covid-19 deaths currently being investigated by the health department.

El Paso health department data shows that 52.4% of El Pasoans 12 years and older are now fully vaccinated.

The number of known active coronavirus infections now stands at 1,113.

There were 84 Covid-19 patients in El Paso hospitals on Monday, with 29 of those patients in intensive care units.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 135,927 confirmed virus cases in El Paso with 132,095 reported recoveries.
