El Paso reports 1 virus death, 5 new cases

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health reported 1 new coronavirus-related death and five new cases Tuesday morning.

El Paso County's pandemic death toll increased to 2,622 with the death of a woman in her 50s.

There are still 10 additional suspected Covid-19 deaths currently being investigated by the health department.

El Paso health department data shows that 57.3% of El Pasoans 12 and older are now fully vaccinated, with 71.1% having received at least one dose.

The number of known active cases now stands at 597.

There are 52 Covid-19 patients in El Paso hospitals, with 18 of those patients in intensive care units.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 136,257 confirmed virus cases in El Paso with 132,950 reported recoveries.
