EL PASO, Texas -- There is nothing like the look and smell of a real Christmas tree.  But where do you find a real, live Christmas tree in the Borderland region?

We've got some suggestions on the best places to grab your tree for this upcoming holiday season...

Lincoln National Forest, New Mexico

The Lincoln National Forest sells Christmas Tree permits from Nov. 14 to Dec. 24 for $10 each on a first-come, first-serve basis. With a permit, a tree may be cut in most areas within the Lincoln National Forest. To purchase a permit, or for more info, contact one of the four Lincoln National Forest offices...

Home Depot stores, El Paso & Las Cruces

If you're heading to one of the Home Depot stores in El Paso or Las Cruces to do a little home improvement shopping, you can pick up a fresh cut tree there as well. Prices and sizes will vary by location, as will the selection. To find the Home Depot location near you, use their online store finder by clicking here.

Eastside Discount Nursery, El Paso

The Eastside Nursery at 8423 N. Loop Drive in El Paso doesn't sell cut Christmas trees - they sell potted Christmas trees! The best thing about a potted Christmas tree is that after the season, you can plant it and have a living reminder of your holiday year 'round. You can contact Eastside Nursery at 915-591-3333.

Parking lot tree sellers, El Paso & Las Cruces

Another great place you can get your fresh cut tree is in the parking lots of some El Paso and Las Cruces area stores and shopping areas. Be on the lookout for pop-up tree lots as we get closer to the holidays.
