Summer activities for El Paso Community

EL PASO, Texas – Break out your summer gear. The El Paso County Parks and Recreation is hosting several family-friendly events. Don't forget your blankets and chairs.

Ascarate Golf Course, located at 6900 Delta Dr., will be hosting Friday Night Lights starting June 3. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., families can golf at the course for $10 a person. The event will carry on through September 2. For more information, call the golf course pro shop at (915) 771-2392.

Parks will also be hosting Parks After Sunset Movie Series, which begins Saturday, June 4. The event will take place every Saturday for June at 7 p.m., showcasing four different movies. June 4 at Westway Park will be showing Encanto. Clifford, the Big Red Dog, will be played at Estrella Park on June 11. Space Jam: A New Legacy will be at Agua Dulce Park on June 18. The final movie shown will be Sing 2 at Risinger Park on June 25. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets, snacks, and vaccinated pets.

The Kid Fish Derby will be hosted on Saturday, June 11, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is free for ages 3-16, and bait and fishing poles will be provided. Registration is from 7:30 a.m. and parents only need an ID to be registered. For more information, call the Ascarate Fishing Club at (915) 478-0406.
