Fire Destroys West Side Home

EL PASO, TX. — Fire investigators tell ABC 7 a faulty extension cord that supplied power to a Christmas tree is the main culprit in a West El Paso house fire.

Crews responded to the sceneshortly after 3 a.m. Sundayat a home along the 3000 block of Waymore. Crews tell ABC-7 that the house is total loss, with damage estimates topping $200,000.

Most of the family was away for the holidays, so the risk to human life was minimal. The only person at home was Tom Archer,a married man and fatheroffive.

“If my children, my wife weren’t here, I would have nothing,” Archer said. “To be honest, the world is not worth living in if I don’t have my family.”
