Streets Flood With Overnight Rains

EL PASO, TX. — Brief but intense rainshowers dotted the El Paso region overnight,and some areas of heavy flooding was reported in certain areas of town.

Heavy rains pounded the West Side of town for about an hour overnight. Streets near the University of Texas at El Paso began to flood, and emergency crews had to close off a section of Glory Rd. where it intersects withOregon St.due to much standing water.

One vehicle,a taxicab,became trapped inanarea near the UTEP Ticket Office and the Don Haskins Center. The driver apparently misjudged the depth of thefloodwater. Emergency crewswere called out topull thecab to drier land.

ABC 7 StormTRACK forecaster Troy Barrett is forecasting a 50 percent chance for rain on Saturday night and Monday,with the chance for measurable precipitation diminishing only to40 percent on Sunday.
