YISD Schools Given ‘All-Clear’ After Modified Lockdown

EL PASO –Officials with the Ysleta ISD report fourdistrictschoolswere placedunder “modified lockdown” after reports that there wasa person with a weapon in the area of the campuses.

The schoolsincluded Valley View Middle School, Lancaster, Mission Valley and Marion Manor elementary schools.

The lockdowns were prompted after awitness saw a “suspicious person, walking around area, possibly with a weapon” and both El Paso police and YISD police were notified, said YISD Spokesperson Berenice Zubia.

Zubia said that the modified lockdown was put in place “out of an abundance of caution.” Zubia also said there was “no change in the instruction day” due to the lockdown. The modified lockdown notice ended at 2:45 p.m. without further incident.

A modified lockdown allows persons to come and go from the campus, however their movement are monitored.
