NEW THIS MORNING – Fire In West Texas
ODESSA, Texas (AP) – An electrical problem is blamed for igniting a wildfire in Odessa that injured one person and destroyed at least six homes.
The homes of about 150 people also were evacuated yesterday as firefighters battled the West Texas wildfire before putting it out.
Officials estimated the size of the fire to be between 25 acres and 50 acres.
Sustained winds the National Weather Service estimated at nearly 40 miles-per-hour fueled the fire.
Emergency personnel treated one person on site for breathing problems, but no one needed hospitalization.
