Windy Weather Slams The Borderland

EL PASO, Texas – The ABC-7 StormTRACK Weather Team predicted it and the winds are whipping The Borderland once again.
The strong winds began to pick up around11 Wednesday morning and the winds got stronger throughout the day.
Official wind gusts at the El Paso airport have around 30 and 40 miles per hour.
In Las Cruces, winds picked up around 9:30 a.m. and were stronger than in El Paso.
In both cities, the high winds are filling the skies with blowing sand and dust.
As of Thursday evening, there were no delays at the airport or large power outages due to the winds.
El Paso Electric told ABC-7 that there was a small outage in the lower valley, only affecting about ten customers.
There were also no major road closures in the Borderland.
