EXTREME MAKEOVER DAY 5: Home’s Skeleton Reinforced

By ABC-7 Reporter Stephanie Valle

EL PASO — There was a lotof work done on the dream home being built for the Ruiz family courtesy of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Friday, everyone at the site seemed busy and focused on trying to finish the home in time for deadline. Crews worked constantly as hundreds of fansgathered near the construction site. Shuttles picking up people who parked at Abundant Living Faith Center could be seen arriving constantly.

Many told ABC-7 they want to witness the amazing feat taking place at the site but also wanted to help the needy. A group of 25 students from a nearby school dropped off bags full of toys, clothing and food. Most of the action was taking place near the donation tent at the site.

On the construction end, crews began to install red tiles on the roof, chicken wire and covering for the walls and insulation. The majority of the home’s windows were already in place by Noon.

The massive structure now stands ten to 20 feet higher that its neighbors and some spectators at the site wondered if the dream home would raise property values for homes nearby.
