EL PASO COUNTY, Texas — More shotsare fired in the El Paso County desert and one security guard is almost shot in the chest.
Sylvestre Reyes, Jr. has been the night security guard at Lake El Paso near Horizon City for 14 months. On Monday night, he got the scare of his life. “So I was coming this way, I was making the turn, when the shot rang out,” he said.
The bullet went through the windshield and through the passenger seat. That’s when Reyes says he laid on the seat, and the truck veered into the tree.
“It would have gone through right here.” Reyes showed the middle of his chest as he described where the bullet would have gone had someone been sitting in the passenger seat of the truck.
Reyes says he waited until the vehicles drove away and he called the Sheriff’s Department. “I was afraid but it comes with the territory,” he said.
Lake El Paso sits on about 6,000 acres of private property. Reyes thinks the person shooting could have been someone he’s had to kick off the property.
“We have signs posted, but still they want to come in. This is no accident no way.” Reyes said as a result of the shooting, they will be changing how they secure the property. He could not provide details on that information for safety reasons.
