Gasoline Leak Caused Fire At Eastside Home, Officials Say
EL PASO, Texas — A build-up of gasoline vapors caused a fire at an east El Paso home Wednesday night, El Paso Fire Department officials said.
About 7:45 p.m., eight fire units responded to the blaze in the 9300 block of Darlina. Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the garage of one of the duplex units, fire officials said.
The fire was brought under control about 8 p.m. Investigators determined that a small gasoline leak from a motorcycle was the cause of the fire. A build-up of gasoline vapors led to an explosion, fire officials said.
The owners told investigators theysmelled a strong odor of gas in the garage earlier in the week.
Damage was estimated at over $25,000.
