Update: Elderly Woman Dies Following Wreck In Far East El Paso

An elderly woman is dead following a vehicle accident Saturday afternoon in Far East El Paso.

The wreck happened shortlyafter 4:30pmat the intersection of Joe Battle and Montana.

According to investigators, the driver of a blue Honda Civic, 76-year-old Lauren Bell, was attempting to make a left turn onto Joe Battle when she was hit by a red Honda Accord driven by 29-year Amber Bechtel.

Investigators say Bechtel was unable to stop, hitting the passenger side of Bell’s Civic.

Bechtel was not seriously injured, but Bell’s passenger, 76-year-old Dagmar Dozier, died at Thomason Hospital.

Meanwhile, Bell remains in critical condition at Thomason Hospital. Authorities say neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the collision.

El Paso Police spokesman Darrel Petry reminds drivers to be careful on the road, especially when approaching intersections.
