61 Students, 8 Employees Have Scabies In YISD

EL PASO, Texas — Four new cases of scabies were reported at area school districts Tuesday.

A total of 62 students and nine staffers have confirmed cases of scabies in the Ysleta ISD, district spokeswoman Patricia Ayala said.

A new student case was reported Tuesday afternoon at Vista Hills Elementary and a new employee case was reported at Pebble Hills Elementary School.

The El Paso ISD reports that they have 17 students infected with scabies. Two new cases were reported Tuesday, one at Guillen Middle and one at Austin High School.

In the Socorro ISD, no new cases of scabies were reported this week. Five cases have been reported so far this year. The school district just returned from a break.

A total of eight cases of scabies were reported last week in the Clint ISD.
