Stash House Unit Seizes Pot; Makes 2 Arrests

EL PASO — More than 60 pounds of pot are off the street after agents with the West Texas high Intensity Drug Trafficking Stash House Unit (H.I.D.T.A.) make two arrests.

Alfredo Meza, 35, of the 7300 block of Benson; and Gregorio Garcia, 35, of the 700 block of Santa Barbara, were arrested Monday afternoon and charged with Possession of Marijuana over 50 lbs. and Under 2000 lbs.

Police officials say the stash house unit was conducting an investigation in the 7900 block of Santa Maria in the East Side when they stopped a vehicle driven by Meza.

According to officials, an inspection of Meza’s vehicle turned up 57 bundles of Marijuana with a total weight of 62 pounds. The pot had a street value of $50,000.

Both men remain booked at the El Paso County Detention Center under $30,000 bonds.
