Support Miners By Eating At Whataburger Tonight; Meet Tim Floyd

Whataburger will host a series of festivities from 5 to 9 p.m. today to welcome UTEP’s basketball coach Tim Floyd and to raise money for The Miner Athletic Club. Whataburger will donate 20 percent of the sales from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. to the Miner Athletic Club, and the first 25 people in line will receive a free Whataburger.

The festivities will take place at 1198 Yarbrough at Vista del Sol.

Fans also have the opportunity for autographs, photos and interviews with coach Floyd from 7 to 8 p.m. along with appearances from mascot Paydirt Pete, the Golddiggers and the UTEP cheerleaders. Throughout the night, guests can register to win prizes from both UTEP and Whataburger such as autographed basketballs and Whataburger prize packs filled with mugs and Frisbees.

“Whataburger has a long history of supporting athletics from its inception with the Whataburger Little League team to college and professional sports like UTEP and the Spurs,” said Jenny Colon, Regional Marketing Manager. “We hope our efforts tonight will excite the community for the upcoming basketball season and provide needed funds for their athletic program.”

Raffle tickets will also be sold, $3 for one or $5 for two tickets to enter to win Whataburger for a year or two sets of basketball season tickets. Local radio station KLAQ will broadcast live from 5 to 7 p.m.
