7-Year-Old Dies In Car Accident

The El Paso Police Department said a 7-year-old died in a car crash just after noon on Saturday.

Special Traffic Investigations officers were sent to the scene of the crash at 5600 Doniphan Drive. The investigation revealed a Jeep driven by a 55-year-old man was traveling north on Doniphan when a Dodge Neon that was traveling south tried to make a left turn and was hit by the Jeep.

A 7-year-old boy who was in the Neon was transported to University Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

Another man who was a passenger in the Neon was also injured and is in critical condition.

The other two passengers of the Neon, as well as the driver of the Jeep, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of those injured are being withheld until family members have been notified. .

This is the 61st traffic fatality this year.
