El Paso Police: Murder Occurred During Drug Deal

El Paso Police have arrested Fidencio Valdez, 31, of the 14000 block of Linda Rene, in the homicide of 18-year-old Julio Barrios.

According to police, Valdez, aka Fidencio Ramo, met with Barrios in Northeast El Paso to negotiate an illegal drug deal at 6:32 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10. Barrios had entered a white SUV that Valdez was driving when an argument ensued and Valdez allegedly shot Barrios. Valdez then pulled Barrios from the back seat of the SUV and shot Barrios a second time, according to police.

Police said Valdez then pointed a handgun at a vehicle that Barrios had been in and fired several rounds at Barrios? uncle and girlfriend who were coming to Barrios? aid.

Valdez and the white SUV then fled. Barrios died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head. Valdez has been booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charge of Murder and two counts of Criminal Attempt Murder. His bonds have been set at $1,000,000.00 for the Murder and $100,000.00 for each of the Criminal Attempt Murder charges.
