Reward Offered In Murder Of Juarez Mother
A development has occurred in the case of Marisela Escobedo, the mother and activist killed in Chihuahua while she demanded justice for her daughter’s murder.
The Mexican government is offering a reward for information that leads to the capture of the man who planned her murder, presumably the daughter’s ex-boyfriend and killer Sergio Barraza ($45,500 or $500,000 pesos); and the trigger man ($200,000 pesos or $16,000).
Interpol has been contacted regarding the case. Interpol facilitates cross-border police co-operation, and supports and assists all organizations, authorities and services whose mission is to prevent or combat international crime.
Rubi Frayre Escobedo, was killed in 2008 – allegedly by her live-in boyfriend, Sergio Barraza, who was arrested then later released for lack of evidence. Last week, Marisela Escobedo Ortiz was killed while demanding justice for her daughter outside the Chihuahua governor’s office. Prosecutors say the body of 36-year-old Manuel Monge Amparan was found two days later, asphyxiated and wrapped in a blanket.
