Notre Dame, Miami Players Visit El Paso Hospitals

This year’s Hyundai Sun Bowl match-up between Notre Dame and the University of Miami is a dream match-up for many in the borderland, particularly because of the Fighting Irish’s following in El Paso.

Monday, both teams took a time out from practice to visit children at area hospitals.

Notre Dame players stopped by the pediatric unit at University Medical Center where they posed for pictures and signed autographs.

Miami’s players were set to visit the Children’s Hospital at Providence in the afternoon.

For parents like Lawrence Bishop and Joanna Rodriguez, the visits were a happy distraction for their little ones.

“My baby is happy,” Bishop told ABC-7. “It’s brightened her spirits, just look at her!”
