Man Arrested After West Side SWAT Situation

El Paso Police have arrested an El Paso man after an alleged Aggravated Assault Wednesday morning.

Officers from the Westside patrol responded to an Aggravated Assault call just after 5 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 4141 Westcity Ct.

According to police, the investigation revealed that Juan Solis had engaged in a verbal confrontation with his spouse/victim about 4 a.m., which resulted in him allegedly hitting the victim in the face, threatening to kill her with a handgun, and putting a knife to the victims throat during the ongoing assault.

The victim was able to exit the apartment with a female child and meet with police. Solis stayed inside the apartment with his teenage son. S.W.A.T. and Crisis Management Team (CMT) were called to assist.

Shortly after 8 a.m., CMT was able to establish contact with Solis and he exited the apartment and surrendered without incident. He was placed under arrest for the alleged Aggravated Assault.

The son also exited the apartment unharmed and without incident. Upon checking the apartment complex officers located the 9mm handgun allegedly used during the assault. Solis was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charge of Aggravated Assault Family Violence with Deadly Weapon and his bond was set at $10,000.
