StormTRACK Weather First Alert Issued

The StormTRACK Weather Team has issued a First Alert due to the possibility of snow and bitterly cold temperatures later this week.

An arctic cold front will push through the region tomorrow afternoon, plummeting temperatures for the rest of the week.

Also, an upper-level low will tap into Pacific moisture, which in turn could give us decent opportunities for snow beginning Tuesday night.

Estimated snowfall totals indicate that one to four inches are possible in the lower elevations, including El Paso. Up to a foot of snow could fall in the Sacramento Mountains by Friday.

Along with the chance for snow, the Borderland could be looking at some of the coldest temperatures in decades. The last time temperatures dropped to below 10 degrees was Dec.18, 1996, almost 14 years ago.

The main concern with this winter storm will be ice accumulating on the area roadways along with dangerous morning lows.
