Motorcycle Wreck Closes Part of Transmountain Rd.

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after a collision with a semi-truck on Transmountain road, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

The wreck happened at around 10 a.m. Friday near the El Paso Museum of Archaeology.

TXDOT officials said all westbound lanes of Transmountain were closed due to the investigation.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Chris Acosta told ABC-7 the motorcyclist seemed to be at fault.

The rider, a man in his mid-30s, tried to pass the semi-truck by using the right shoulder of the road when the truck turned right toward the museum. The rider lost control of the motorcycle and was clipped and dragged by the semi, said Acosta.

The rider was not wearing a helmet and investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
