Motorist Assist Leads To Cocaine Bust

On Friday, 07-22-11 Deputy Johnson/Canine Handler and K-9 ?Ciro?, a certified narcotic detection canine, conducted a motorist assist on a vehicle stalled on the roadway at the 5600 block of Frutas in El Paso, TX.

Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, the Sheriff?s Deputy noticed the driver was behaving extremely nervous. Deputy Johnson conducted a K-9 search of the vehicle.

The K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics at the rear of the vehicle. Upon a further search of the vehicle, it was discovered that 16.5 kilograms (36.4 lbs) of cocaine was inside the subject?s vehicle. The driver was identified as subject/Jesus Salsido.

Subject/Salsido was placed under arrest and charged for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (Cocaine) over 400 Grams and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $500,000.00 bond.

CHARGE: POSSESSION OF C/S P/G 1 (COCAINE) O/400 GRAMS

BOND: $500,000.00
