UPDATE: Police ID Pedestrian Killed In Circle K Parking Lot, Driver

Police identified a 52-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed by truck Tuesday afternoon outside an East El Paso convenience store.

Police said 52-year old Robert Taylor died when he was hit by a pickup driven by Osvaldo Sifuentes, who was pulling up to the parking lot of the Circle K on Pebble Hills Boulevard at Red Sails Drive.

Officers with the Special Traffic Investigations unit interviewed Sifuentes at the scene. An investigation continues to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.

Sifuentes was not placed in police custody and has not been charged with any crime.

This is the second private property fatality of 2011. The first occurred Aug. 22, 2011on Escobar Street. Because the incident occurred in a private parking lot and not a roadway, Taylor’s death will not be counted on the yearly statistics for traffic fatalities.
