Gaby Loria

Gaby Loria joined the ABC-7 news team in July 2010. During her time at KVIA, she’s traveled to Tucson to cover the Safeway shooting that left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition, profiled undercover female DEA agents and reported on volunteer Red Cross paramedics on patrol in Ciudad Juarez.

Her career in news started at South Florida’s CBS4, where she worked as an associate producer. She’s a graduate of the University of Miami, with degrees in broadcast journalism and Latin American studies. Gaby was an anchor/reporter for shows in English and Spanish on UMTV, the university’s award-winning television station.

Before graduating, she produced a short documentary in Bocas del Toro, Panama. She spent 12 days there examining the living conditions inside an indigenous Ngobe settlement next to the town’s open-air sewage treatment tanks. Her work abroad earned her an award for Best Magazine Program from the National Broadcast Society.

Gaby has also won NBS, AP, and SPJ awards for her news shooting and reporting. She is the first UM student to compete and place in the Hearst Awards National Championship.

Gaby is from Quertaro, Mexico, and has spent years living in Guatemala and Brazil. She can hold a decent conversation in Portuguese and French.

Gaby is a proud member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Feel free to drop her a line any time. She loves hearing from viewers and getting story ideas.
