Police ID Woman Struck, Killed By Dark SUV; Driver Sought

A woman who was struck and killed by an SUV was intentionally lying on the roadway, police said.

The search continues for the driver of a dark SUV, which killed 32-year-old Kimberly Esparza on Monday morning at 10900 Pebble Hills Blvd and Roy Pace Drive in East El Paso.

Investigators said the woman and her husband were walking home from a nearby bar when Esparza laid down on the eastbound lanes of the street. She was struck by SUV, which fled the scene.

Esparza, of the 2700 block of Red Sails Drive, died at the scene.

This is the 59th traffic death of 2011, compared with 57 at this time last year.
