Man Killed By Train Driving Through Rail Road Crossing Guard
Police said a driver disregarded the railroad crossing arms before a train struck his car, killing him.
The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North Zaragoza Road.
The driver, 24-year-old Alberto Salina, was driving a gray 2000 Mercury Sable south on Zaragoza. He approached the railroad crossing arm, which was down and blocking the road near Roseway Drive. Investigators said Salinas ignored the crossing arm and began to drive around it when a westbound Union Pacific Train struck the car.
Salinas died at the scene.
Investigators are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in this crash.
