Suspect Arrested in Halloween Shooting Death
El Paso sheriff’s investigators say they have arrested suspect Jesus Robles in connection with a Halloween party shooting near Horizon City.
Hector Gonzalez, 19, was shot and killed at about 1 a.m. on Nov. 1 after officials say a fight broke out at a party on the 1600 block of Jamin Place.
Sherrif’s investigators say 20-year-old Robles was booked late Friday night on a murder charge, and his bond was set at $ 1 million.
“We heard the shots. I have kids and my nephews were visiting also, so we were horrified,” said Jamin Place resident Rosa, who declined to give a last name.
“That’s good they arrested (Robles). I can now live peacefully,” said a neighbor, who wanted to remain anonymous.
“(Robles) was doing wrong, so he has to pay for what he did,” said Rosa.
Both Jamin Place residents were relieved to hear an arrest was made, but too afraid to show their faces on camera.
ABC7 asked Rosa if she chose not to show her face because of a fear of retaliation. She answered, “Yes. I do think, in a way, (the shooting) has to do with gangs.”
The other resident we spoke with agreed. “I would be scared (to show my face). Like I (told) you, we are scared now because of the circumstances around here.”
Investigators haven’t said whether they think the shooting was gang-related. As of late Saturday night jail records indicate Robles is still locked up.
