El Paso City Council Could Cut Electric Rate Today

The El Paso City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing and discussion on establishing temporary electric rates for the borderland.

This decision comes in the weeks after council members have questioned El Paso Electric about the rates it charges city businesses and residents for electricity. The rates are some of the highest in the state, but EPE argues that the city’s electric bills some of the lowest in the state and maintaining services for the large area it covers in the borderland drives up the rates.
