Missing Exit Sign Causes Confusion On Loop 375

Works convoys, construction and congestion. It’s a familiar sight for motorists traveling on Loop 375 in Central El Paso and the city’s Lower Valley.

But things can get confusing for eastbound drivers who need to exit at Fonseca Drive; there are no signs warning drivers that the exit is coming up, causing some drivers to miss the off-ramp. Drivers are then forced to drive another five miles to the Midway Drive exit, to turn around.

ABC-7 contacted the Texas Department of Transportation to find out what happened to the exit signs.

“The original sign was damaged and removed prior to the construction,” said Eddie Valtier, a spokesman for TxDOT.

Officials also said a permanent, overhead sign is in the works and will go up once the construction on Loop 375 is complete.

For now, a temporary sign to warn drivers about the exit is expected to go up the first week of December.
