Charges Against Officer Accused of Sexual Assault Dropped

The El Paso District Attorney’s Office confirmed that sexual assault charges against El Paso police Officer Mark Munoz have been dismissed.

Munoz, who was off-duty during the alleged incident, was accused of digitally penetrating a female with his fingers. In working extensively on this case, prosecutors determined that there was not sufficient evidence to take the case to trial.

Muoz was arrested after a grand jury indicted him on charges he sexually assaulted the woman on Halloween of 2009. He was placed on administrative duties.
