Woman Treated After East Side House Fire Is Arrested

A woman who escaped an early morning fire in East-Central El Paso has been arrested on suspicion of arson of habitation.

Fire crews responded to house fire shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 8000 block of Parkland Drive in East-Central El Paso, and reported seeing flames coming out of the front and rear of the house.

Investigators said 29-year-old Christina Paz was at the home at the time of the fire, but managed to escape. She was taken to Del Sol Medial Center to be treated for minor injuries

Official said that about 27 firefighters responded to the fire, which caused $50,000 in damage. It was later determined that the fire was intentionally set.

Paz was arrested on suspicion of arson on a habitation, a first degree felony. She was booked into the El Paso County Jail with bond set at set at $20,000.
