Man Who Crashed Into Car In Hooters Parking Lot Charged With 2nd DWI

A man who crashed his truck into another vehicle in an east El Paso parking lot Sunday is facing his second drunk driving charge, according to the El Paso Police Department.

Police said 40-year-old Oscar Lopez crashed his Ford Ranger pickup truck into a Hyundai Tucson in the parking lot of 1170 Sunmount Dr. just before 7 p.m. Sunday. The address is listed as a Hooters restaurant.

Police said Lopez appeared to be intoxicated and officers conducted a DWI investigation leading to Lopez’s arrest.

According to police, this was Lopez’s second DWI after a previous conviction from January 2000. Lopez also had a previous warrant for criminal non-support.

Lopez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for DWI as well as the outstanding warrant.

His bond for the DWI was set at $1,000 and is being held without bond for the warrant.
