El Paso Band At The Drive-In Reunites
After an 11-year break-up, a popular hard rock band that got its start in El Paso is back together.
At the Drive-In announced the reunion in a cryptic message on its Twitter page, which reads, ” ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS ?NOW?OPERATIONAL.”
The band, which is comprised of El Pasoans Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Jim Ward, Omar Rodrguez-Lpez, Paul Hinojos and Tony Hajjar, got started in the early 1990s playing small gigs around town. With time and touring, the band eventually exploded into the mainstream in 2000 with the album “Relationship of Command” and had a single, “One Armed Scissor” playing in heavy rotation on MTV. However, disagreements over the musical future of the band caused the band to announce it would be on an indefinite hiatus in 2001.
The reunion was confirmed when the band appeared on the lineup of the Coachella Music Festival, which is held in the spring outside Palm Springs, CA. This year, Coachella is stretching into a two-weekend festival in the middle of April. At the Drive-In will be playing on the Sunday of each weekend.
Coachella presale passes are sold-out. Tickets will officially be available Friday.
