Motorcyle Officer Injured after Attempted Traffic Stop

El Paso, TX – An El Paso Police Motorcycle Officer is knocked from his bike after trying to stop a motorist who wasn’t wearing his seat belt.

According to police, 24-year-old Jamichael Jerrod Walker was spotted driving without his seat belt Monday afternoon. An EPPD Motorcycle officer tried to stop Walker; however he refused to pull over and kept driving.

Walker continued to an apartment complex along the 3300 block of Zion, where he got out of his car, but left the vehicle in reverse. The Oldsmobile rolled backwards, striking the officer and throwing him from his bike.

EPPD officials add that Walker ran into his apartment and allegedly tried to get rid of some drugs. Police add that Walker was also in possession of a handgun.

Walker was charged with Evading Arrest, Possession of Marijuana, Tampering with Evidence, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. According to police, Walker has a felony conviction out of Georgia.

Officials add that the motorcycle officer was not seriously injured in the incident.
