UTEP Tuition To Increase Next Two Years

An education at UTEP will soon be a bit pricier.

UTEP President Diana Natalicio announced on Thursday a tuition hike for students starting this fall.

Tuition will increase by 2.2 percent year year and next next year for undergrads – about $76 extra per semester for an undergrad student taking 15 credit hours.

And tuition will increase 3.6 percent for graduate students – about $125 per grad student per semester.

Natalicio said deep cuts from the state, growing enrollment, and the pursuit of achieving tier one status are what prompted this tuition hike.

UTEP students said it will be a difficult of not deal-breaking adjustment.

UTEP officials said it recognizes the financial strain some will feel and will begin offering an incentive awards program.

If a student completes 36 credits in a year, they’ll get a $250 discount on next semester’s tuition.
