Off-duty El Paso Police officer arrested for alleged DWI

An 18-year veteran of the El Paso Police Department was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, according to police officials.

Police said that on Sunday, Adrian Gonzalez, an off-duty El Paso Police Officer, was driving on the 7800 block of Parral and struck a parked vehicle.

Gonzalez remained at the scene and units from the Mission Valley Regional Command responded to the scene.

Police said Gonzalez displayed signs of intoxication and a sergeant was called to the scene. The officer and sergeant believed Gonzalez had been driving while intoxicated.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Gonzalez was charged with DWI and booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $1,000 bond.

Gonzalez has been placed on administrative duty while an administrative investigation is conducted regarding his off-duty conduct.
