Petition started to get State Rep. Naomi Gonzalez to resign

Last week Rep. Naomi Gonzalez apologized to her fellow state representatives in Austin following a DWI arrest.

This week, she’s being asked to resign by members of the public through an online website.

On March 14th Gonzalez was arrested with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, according to officials and documents obtained by ABC-7.

The arrested occurred following a car wreck.

As a result of the arrest, a petition found online at change.org suggests Gonzalez step down from her position.

In part, the online petition reads: “As a representative and elected government official, Representative Gonzalez should be held to the highest accountability when it comes to upholding the laws of her state and the people that she represents.”

The petition has reached more than 350 supporters.

It can be found online, here.
