YISD encouraging students, staff to honor Conn. victims by wearing Sandy Hook colors

The Ysleta Independent School District has posted a Facebook status to honor the victims of Friday’s Sandy Hook Elementary mass shootings in Connecticut.

“To honor the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary, YISD students and staff are encouraged to wear green and white (Sandy Hook school colors) on Monday, Dec. 17. Please, no jerseys or jeans. In addition, the President has ordered US flags to fly at half staff until sunset December 18,” according to the status on YISD’s official Facebook page.

In a comment on the status, YISD clarifies that it is not mandatory that they wear the Sandy Hook colors.
