Desert Downs BMX track rebounding

It’s been more than a week since vandals damaged Desert Downs BMX track. Managers still don’t know who vandalized their property, but life is moving on.

Bryan O’Leary, the track manager, told ABC-7 it’s been a hard time for the track, but they’re getting a lot of help from the community.

“It’s hard to put all of this back together without the community support,” said O’Leary. “It’s really been huge a big, big help.”

On Saturday, more than 20 members of El Paso’s chapter of Ruff Ryders showed up to support the track. While many had never ridden a BMX bike, they took their turns and helped clean up the leftover damages.

More groups are helping chip in from local soldiers to businesses big and small. For more information on getting involved in, the cleanup visit the Desert Downs BMX Facebook fan page.
