Car crashes head-on into a semi overnight

Two people are in the hospital after crashing head-on into a semi truck early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at 2:22 a.m. at the intersection of Bomarc and Transmountain. Police say a woman driving a Mustang was heading south on Bomarc underneath the overpass when she ran a red light and hit the semi on the front driver side of the tractor. The woman and her male passenger had to be extracted from the car by emergency crews. We were told that their injuries are considered to be non-life threatening.

Charges are pending. An officer did accompany the man and woman to UMC to the hospital to up. An officer at the scene tells us the woman admitted she had been drinking before taking the wheel.
