Dia de los Muertos, All Saints Day celebrated throughout city

Observers throughout the borderland are celebrating Dia de Los Muertos Saturday.

The holiday honors the dead with a blend of Aztec and Christian elements.According to the Muertos tradition on November 1st- 2nd the heavens open and the souls of the dead return to earth.

Every year for the past 14 years the bishops of El Paso, Las Cruces, and Ciudad Juarez come together on November 2nd to honor “All Souls Day” or “Dia de los Muertos.”

They met at the border fence in Anapra to pay tribute to departed loved-ones.
