Military Family Gets Help from Fellow Soldiers
Fort Bliss soldiers brought mops and brooms to the home of Rachel and Pvt. Justin Poole Monday afternoon.
The members of Poole’s unit were called to get the home ready for the return of attack-victim Rachel Poole and her new daughter Isabella, the landlord told ABC-7.
Rachel Poole has been hospitalized since she was attacked on Wednesday night at her Northeast El Paso rental home.
Poole was nine-months-pregnant and on the phone with her husband who was deployed overseas.
Rachel and Pvt. Justin Poole were using the Facetime video chat application on their phones when the soldier watched in horror as his wife was viciously attacked by a stabber.
Police say the man who stabbed Poole was Ft. Bliss soldier Corey Moss. They say Moss owed money to the Pooles and broke into the home and waited to attack Rachel Poole.
Moss fled the scene after the attack, police said. He was later arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Rachel Poole gave birth to Isabella through caesarian section while in the hospital recovering from her stab wounds.
Facebook updates from the Pooles state both the mother and the baby are recovering and making progress.
