New charges filed against ex-Las Cruces Police officer, including criminal sexual penetration of a minor

New charges have been filed agasinst a Las Cruces Police officer who resigned after allegations of rape.

ABC-7 confirmed Wednesday that the 15-year veteran officer, Mike Garcia, faces multiple counts of sexual assault against a minor dating back to 2004.

An attorney with the third judicial district attorney in Las Cruces confirms eight new charges ranging from criminal sexual penetration of a minor to criminal sexual contact of a minor.

Garcia is alleged to have assaulted a relative.

Garcia was to be arraigned this afternoon in district court.

Garcia was arrested and charged previously with similar counts against a 17 year girl.

The alleged assaults took place during a ride along while garcia was on duty.
