2012 story: Canutillo names Annette Brigham as interim superintendent

The Canutillo Independent School board named Associate Superintendent Annette Brigham as interim superintendent. Brigham has been with the district for 25 years and said she’s ready to get CISD back on track.

But she may not be in this position for long. The board also agreed to start the process for hiring a new permanent superintendent. They are going to request proposals from top search consulting firms in Texas that can meet their criteria for under $50,000. Board members said they may not even hire a firm, and just do the search themselves.

In the meantime, Brigham will be moving Canutillo past the era of Damon Murphy, who was superintendent up until a few weeks ago when he was forced to resign after the results of an internal audit revealed an alleged cheating scam.

The board expects to have all the proposals from consulting firms in by January 15th, then they’re going to decide whether they want an outside company to find Canutillo a permanent superintendent.
