Chihuahuas snap Round Rock’s six-game win streak

The El Paso Chihuahuas had their second walk-off win of the season Sunday, defeating the Round Rock Express 5-4 at Southwest University Park. After El Paso’s Jonathan Galvez tripled to begin the bottom of the 12th inning, Round Rock intentionally walked the bases loaded. Alex Castellanos then drove a single over the right fielder’s head to bring in Galvez with the game-winning run.

The Chihuahuas had a 4-1 lead entering the top of the ninth inning before Round Rock scored three runs on a two-run home run by Jared Hoying and an RBI double by Brett Nicholas. Neither team scored in the tenth or 11 th innings. The victory was the Chihuahuas first extra-inning win of the season and their first run scored in ten extra innings this season.

Three former San Diego Padres (Miles Mikolas, Cory Burns and Aaron Poreda) pitched in Sundays game for Round Rock. Donn Roach pitched seven innings in his second Triple-A start and allowed only one run. Roach has pitched 12.2 innings in two appearances with the Chihuahuas and only one run has scored against him.
