Three Miners Named to 2014 All-CUSA Team by Athlon Sports

Senior tight end Eric Tomlinson, junior kickoff returner Autrey Golden and sophomore running back Aaron Jones were named to the 2014 All-Conference USA Team by Athlon Sports.

Golden garnered first-team special teams honors, whileTomlinson and Jones earned second-team offense recognition.

The Miners captured their second preseason honors, as the trio was named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-C-USA Team – Golden (first-team special teams), Jones (second-team offense) and Tomlinson (fourth-team offense).

Golden returned 28 kickoffs for 774 yards (27.6 average) and two touchdowns in 2013. Both scores were 100-yard returns. The native of Willis, Texas ranked first in C-USA and 10 th nationally in return average.

Jones led the Miners with a UTEP freshman-record 811 yards on 155 carries (5.2 average) and scored four touchdowns. The native of El Paso, Texas and Burges High School graduate averaged 90.1 yards per game, which ranked fifth in conference.

Tomlinson led all UTEP tight ends in receptions (30) and yards (304). The native of Klein, Texas set career highs in catches (eight) and yards (75) at Colorado State, including a trip to the end zone.

The Miners open the 2014 season at New Mexico on Aug. 30, while the home opener is against Texas Tech on Sept. 6 (9 p.m. MT).
